Saint Nicholas Parade
I just want to share to everyone the St. Nicolas parade that was held in Den Haag, the Netherlands last 2008. I know it was a last year, but I never got a chance to watch it again this year because I’m here in the Philippines right now. This parade was part of the Dutch tradition which they called as the Sinterklaas feast that they celebrate every 5th day of December. Saint Nicholas is the patron saint of children. Therefore, during the parade, all the roads were mostly covered with lots of children. They were so excited to see Saint Nicholas and of course his companions, the Zwarte Piet. The Zwarte Piet (meaning Black Pete) is the helpers of Saint Nicholas.

The Christmas show or show of the presiding Sint Nicholaas (who is the main Christmas character in the Netherlands rather than Father Christmas), takes place in mid-November each year.
