Prinjesdag (Prince’s Day)
I was just watching on the television the celebration of Prinjesdag and it’s really crowded in the centrum. Though the government building is not that far from home, but I wasn’t able to see it in real. However, watching it on Tv was also great at least I’m comfy sitting in a comfortable couch together with my in-laws. It’s my first time to see this kind of event here in NL so I’m curious how it goes, luckily my in-laws were there and they explain to me. Anyway, maybe next year I can join the crowd already and see Royal family riding in the golden carriage.
Prinsjesdag (English: Prince’s Day) is the day on which the reigning monarch of the Netherlands (currently Queen Beatrix) addresses a joint session of the Dutch Senate and House of Representatives in the Ridderzaal or Hall of Knights in The Hague. The Speech from the Throne (Dutch: Troonrede) sets out the main features of government policy for the coming parliamentary session. The occasion is prescribed by the constitution (source : wikipedia)
